Luis Tausia: Junior World Champion.

Luis Tausia became the Junior World Champion at 6-8 foot Fronton last month at the IBC contest. Infoamed caught up with the young Spaniard to find out about our newest champion.

Hello good, I am Luis Tausia, I am 18 years old and I live in Cantabria in the north of Spain, I have been surfing since I was 10 in a beach near my house called liencres and it is a very constant beach with respect to the waves.

I have been competing since I was 12 years old, my first championship was here on my beach that same year and I traveled to the Canary Islands for my first championship in Spain.

The truth is that it is very difficult to express the happiness I feel right now, although I am still freaking out a little bit, this triumph makes me very, very happy since it was always a very difficult dream to fulfil. I also feel very happy to be able to dedicate it to the entire people who have supported me.

I took more rights than lefts in the comp because apart from the fact that I was breaking the right better due to the direction of the sea and the wind, but I also surfed more rights because I feel more comfortable towards that side and that day I needed it since the waves were big.

In the championship, I liked the surfing of a Peruvian booger who was also 16 years old especially and another Hawaiian rider as well as many locals from Gáldar who know the wave very well, such as Gabriel Molina or Gabriel Mendoza.

My plans for the following years are above all to travel to improve my surfing and meet people, I will try to achieve good results on the European circuit when it resumes and I will dream of getting the world title in the open category, which would be incredible.

I want to send a greeting to all the bodyboarders who read this and thank my family, Science bodyboards and surf world for the support.
